REVISED SUMMER SCHEDULE (AFFECTS PERC, GUARD, SLTs)

We are removing percussion and leadership camps in May. In addition, we are adding July events for guard and percussion sections to make up for possible lost early summer camps. SLTs will meet in person as scheduled in July, but will move to a virtual platform the week of May 25^th (schedule TBA). We are looking to have some sort of virtual meeting for all new SLTs in place – more on that next week. The Full Band summer schedule has not changed as of today. JAZZ BAND AUDITIONS CLOSE ON FRIDAY

You can still get in one of the Jazz Bands next year! Varsity Jazz will meet during 7^th Period while Junior Varsity Jazz will meet on Monday afternoons until 5:00pm. FALL 2020 ENSEMBLE ASSIGNMENTS & SLT LIST RELEASED NEXT WEEK

We will be finishing up the Fall ensemble assignments and SLT selection process this week and will release results in next Sunday’s TWIB Notes. Note for those students that are not currently enrolled or did not turn in an audition – you will not be placed in an ensemble. If you enroll or turn in an audition after we release the ensemble results, you may or may not be scheduled into a band class at the discretion of all the band directors.

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES

AT-HOME LEARNING

Please continue with your At-Home learning assignments. This is the format of all your classes until the end of the academic calendar. A few things:

You must submit something IN CANVAS for every assignment. If you submit a recording in Flipgrid, you must also log into Canvas and type the response “I submitted my assignment in Flipgrid on this date and time.” Failure to submit the statement in Canvas will result in an incomplete and potential zero activity report.
You must be submitting work in all of your classes. You can still fail the fourth quarter for poor or incomplete work FOR ANY OF YOUR CLASSES.
If you did not pass 1^st semester or 3^rd quarter, failing the 4^th quarter may result in not earning credit for the year or semester.
If you fail the 4^th quarter, your GPA will remain untouched, but your academic records will reflect failing the 4^thquarter. This goes for all your classes.

ALLEN ISD CAMPUS FACILITIES CLOSED THROUGH MAY 22 – WHAT DOES THIS MEAN FOR BAND?

At-Home Learning will continue through the last day of school. All AHS/LFC band classes will continue the same format of submissions through Learning Focus #1: Performance Studies and Learning Focus #2: Responding to Music. All materials are due by 11:59pm on Sundays and the new assignments are updated every Monday for the week’s assignments on Canvas.
Band Events such as concerts, festivals, contests, and meetings have been canceled through May 22. We are planning on postponing and rebranding banquet to a later date (which may be in the summer). Rather than the typical banquet format, we are planning a free event like a band picnic held at school or at on off-campus park. The Allen Band Boosters will provide food and games free of charge for all band families.
Turning-in concert uniforms, band folders, instruments will most likely happen the week of May 18-22. We will have more information on this next week.
The summer band calendar has been changed slightly. We have made the decision to take off May percussion events off the calendar. We are adding events in July for colorguard and percussion. The Full Band Summer schedule has not changed. Please see attached Summer Calendar with the 5/4/2020 version on it.
