Bob Ferguson


Bob Ferguson has been in music education for thirty-three years. He brings to Allen a voice of experience! Mr. Ferguson was born in Austin, Texas, and raised at Edwards A.F.B. in California. He played the trumpet in high school where he was a member of the All Valley Band and Choir, and received the Bank of America Music Award. He was also involved in sports at high school, participating for four years on the varsity wrestling, track, and tennis teams. He earned the distinction of being the number one tennis Singles Champion in the District. Mr. Ferguson attended Howard Payne University where he earned a Bachelor of Music Education Degree. He did graduate work at West Texas A&M University. He was influenced primarily by his father who was also a band director. Mr. Ferguson specializes in brass instruments and has taught in several Texas towns including Goldwaithe, O’Donnell, Sunray, Canyon, and Abilene before coming to Allen. Mr. Ferguson is a member of several music professional associations including: Texas Bandmasters Association, Texas Music Educators Association, Texas Music Adjudicators Association, Phi Beta Mu (an Honorary Professional Music Fraternity), and Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia. Mr. Ferguson has been married for thirty-two years to his lovely wife, Martha. They have one son, Glenn, who is a graduate of Texas Tech University. In his free time, Mr. Ferguson enjoys hunting, fishing, and snow skiing. He says he likes Allen because the students show respect toward each other, the school, and their directors. Welcome aboard!
