FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
One thing that Texans don’t lack is P-R-I-D-E ~ that is pride in all that’s…well Texan! Here at the Tournament of Roses Parade Committee and Allen Eagle Escadrille Booster Association we’re about ready to bust with pride about our young Texans being invited to march in the 2006 Tournament of Roses Parade in Pasadena, California.
As you know moving our Escadrille community from Allen to Pasadena won’t be any small feat because we’re…Texas size! Nearly 600 students, chaperones and directors will be making the trek. Did you know the Allen Eagle Escadrille is thought to be the world’s largest High School Marching Band and is in the process of certification in the Guinness Book of World Records?
As you have probably have already guessed there will be many fundraisers this coming year. The Tournament of Roses Committee has already been meeting and fundraising plans are coming together. One of the BIG events will be held on September 10, 2005 ~ it’s the A-Town Ho-Down and it is slated to be lots of fun for the entire community. Let me back up a bit and give you a broader vision. The Tournament of Roses official, Libby Wright will arrive in Allen Thursday, September 8th and she’ll meet with various community leaders. Friday will bring a reception in her honor as well as Allen High School half-time…woops; I mean football game where she will present the Escadrille with the official Tournament of Roses Parade flag. This special weekend will climax with the A-Town Ho-Down. Now I can’t broadcast a lot of the details yet because we are still in the planning process, but what I can tell you is that if you’d like to be involved in the ongoing planning and execution of this fun event, we’d sure love to have you join the fun. Team coordinators and team members are needed for the following areas; Decorations, Entertainment, Give-Aways, Misc., Printed Materials/Signage, Special Guests, Food, Venue & Clean-Up. Sheila Hoekstra will be the event coordinator for the A-Town Ho-Down and she would love to have you on the team. Contact her at 972.390.7939 or by e-mail at sheilas-e-mail@purelyonline.com . More information on the first official A-Town Ho-Down team meeting will follow.
