A-TOWN HO-DOWN TO BENEFIT ALLEN ESCADRILLE’S
TOURNEMENT OF ROSES DREAM
September 8, 2005, 6:00 to 9:00 pm, Celebration Park, Allen, TX – The Allen Escadrille Booster Association and Tournament of Roses Committee will host the A-Town Ho-Down to raise community awareness as well as funds to assist the Allen Eagle Escadrille Marching Band fulfill its dream of marching in the 117th Tournament of Roses Parade.
“The Escadrille will tip the population scale at over 600 members for the 2005/2006 school year and to get these students from Allen, Texas to Pasadena, California has required some creative thinking, many hands and a lot of sweat.” said Tournament of Roses Committee member, Sheila Hoekstra. Pam Toups of the same committee stated, “We’ve had a garage sale, car wash, corporate sponsorship, golf tournament… even a Sonic Drive-in take-over and we’re not done yet!”
The A-Town Ho-Down will be an evening of fun for the entire community of Allen celebrating the Escadrille’s accomplishments as well as welcoming the 2006 Tournament of Roses Parade President, Libby Wright. The A-Town Ho-Down will be a country/western themed event with everything from food, to games for the kids, face painting, reptile show, appearances by Tuffy, Sparky, McGruff and the Chic-fil-e Cow, live music by 21 Mile band and of course Allen’s own Allen Eagle Escadrille will perform. The March to the Roses raffle winners will also be drawn at the A-Town Ho-Down with the winners walking away with a Yamaha Motorcycle, two Southwest Airline tickets or $1000.00 cash. WFAA’s own Steve Stoler will be the guest Emcee for the A-Town Ho-Down.

“There will be no admission fee and we hope the entire community of Allen will turn out. All you need to do is bring a blanket to sit on, maybe a few dollars for food or better yet – a donation!” laughed Hoekstra.
